I've been here probably more than any other restaurant in the area so I figure it's probably time to show my love. Pho 99 has become part of my weekly Thursday lunch routine for well over a year now. It's always something I look forward to, only second to heading home for the week (#consultantlife).
Back when I started going here, I remember times when I was the only customer inside. That was during prime lunchtime too. I'm not sure if it was word of mouth or good advertising, but it's nice seeing more people here now. On this particular visit, it is raining outside, probably serving as the major driving force for people to seek hot pho.
My review isn't about the pho though. I've had it here before and it's solid - probably the best in the area, considering there's not any competition. I'm all about the rice dishes though, having tried #450 (grilled pork chop), 456 (grilled chicken) and 457 (grilled short ribs). They're all delicious and good portions. The first (pictured here) comes with pork three way, shrimp sausage and a fried egg. I only wish the other rice dishes came with all those sides too.
The main reason I continue to go here besides the food being consistently good is that it comes out quick. Not quite as fast as it used to when I ate here alone, but still fast enough for me to be in and out in half an hour.
So if you're in the mood for quality Vietnamese food (there's more than pho!), I wholeheartedly recommend you come here. -

Congratulations, residents of Eatontown: You've been blessed with a West Coast-level Vietnamese restaurant. Viet food this good is truly a unicorn in these parts, even in Manhattan.
The pho broth here finishes fragrant and sweet, and the rice noodles that come in a large bowl seem endless.
But what's particularly special is the short ribs over rice. The flavor profile is that of a smoked char that is complemented with a sweetness that makes this truly a winner, even for newcomers to Vietnamese food. -

Great pho in a strip mall. Flavorful broth, good amount of meat, sprouts, and Thai basil. Always a good thing when you don't feel ripped off after eating.
Establishment was clean and staff were friendly. Only constructive criticism is to add more bubble in the bubble tea. I ordered the matcha bubble tea and the bubble in the tea was pretty scarce. Otherwise the matcha drink itself was tasty.
Will definitely be back to sample the wide-variety of dishes on the menu. -

Following up on my prior review, the grilled pork banh mi is good, although a larger portion of pork at a higher price would be better for other than small eaters. The shrimp pho is very good. Sadly, the chicken curry was tasteless, overpriced and more full of potatoes than anything else.

Very tasty food and service was good.
Prompt and helpful.
Unfortunately the restaurant ran out of bean sprouts, so couldn't eat pho without them.
Tried the vermicelli with grilled pork instead.
Delicious and plentiful. The pork was so tasty and the blend of ingredients in the dish so fresh and tasty.
A little price for Vietnamese food but worth trying.
